After arriving as a teacher at Wedderburn High School almost 40 years ago (imagine teaching Mr Lockhart), Miss Moody is taking leave for the remainder of the year. We wish Miss Moody all the best as she focuses on her health, her classes will be shared amongst other teaching staff over the next few weeks. I'm sure with her determination and support from her work colleagues, friends and the Wedderburn school/community she will be back to visit us again in the not too distant future.
I really enjoyed attending our Year 12 Graduation Dinner last week. A small but very energetic crowd turned up to say farewell to our remaining four VCE/VM students. Thanks to Mrs Carol Woodman (MC), who organised a tremendous evening. The highlight was the formal presentation to the students and then in return the students special awards to staff - very humorous well done Chelsea and Shelby. Guest speaker was Laura Witham who spoke about her inspirational learning journey over the past decade. Laura completed VCAL as a student and has gone on to volunteer as an Ambulance Community Officer (ACO) amongst other health roles, she is currently studying Nursing at Federation University.
We are currently trying to finalise our planning for 2025. If you know that your circumstances may change at the beginning of the school year, please contact the school office or Home-room teacher.
As you maybe aware, Victoria is experiencing the biggest teacher shortage in almost 40 years, however we are extremely close to filling all positions. I hope to have these finalised over the next two weeks. We hope to release and publish this information in our next newsletter.
Congratulations to our Year 10 students, Mia Rowan & Dakota Martin who has been awarded a Kwong Lee Dow Young scholarship. The Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program is an academic enrichment program designed to support high-achieving secondary school students in achieving their personal best. Successful applicants will take part in an exciting two-year program of events and activities that will expand their academic and personal horizons and set them up for success at Melbourne and beyond. Once you complete secondary studies, you may be offered a guaranteed place in an undergraduate degree, financial assistance to move to Melbourne and an overseas scholarship during your studies. We congratulate both young students and wish them all the best over the next two years.
It is full steam ahead with the final stage 3 now in progress. Major demolition works are in full swing as you can see in the above photos. Gone is the science room, old canteen and offices along with the breezeway corridor.
The KLC has a new 'leak proof roof', with more exterior works to continue .
The new Wedderburn Early Years Kinder and Childcare Centre has gone out to tender with an approximate start early in the new year.
Some photos from days gone by of graffiti hidden under the carpet in the old Year 12 room discovered during recent demolition works. Unfortunately, we cannot save this unique artwork, but we have some great photos instead. Was this the artwork of anyone that you know? The room is located next door to the College Cafe opposite the art room.

On the 1st of July 2025 it will be 160 years to the day when a school officially opened in Wedderburn. The 160 Years of Education will be celebrated the last week of Term 2, 2025 with a variety of activities across the week to embrace this monumental occasion. One of the key features of the celebrations will be the launch of a hard cover, 200 page, coffee table recipe & history book. We are now calling on families to submit their favorite recipes or Grandmas greatest hidden secrets to be considered for publication in this important book. Please understand that we are happy to take several recipes from families and community members, however it will not be possible for every recipe to be published. Not everyone will have a recipe published. We have the rest of this term to submit recipes. Please use the format attached to submit your recipes, see below.
