LOOK WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING IN AUSLAN AT MPHPS
Hello everyone,
We had another great week in the Auslan classroom. It’s so good to see students practising the signs they have learnt.
SIGNS OF THE WEEK
Don’t forget to ask your child to show you some of the AUSLAN signs they have been learning. The signs of the week are: ‘Wednesday,’ ‘Thursday,’ & ‘Friday.’
IN THE CLASSROOM
Year 3 – Students have been learning words related to months of the year in Auslan.
Year 4 – Students have been revising signs related to the transport in Auslan.
Year 5 – Students have been learning about deaf artist Jacob Campbell in Auslan.
Year 6 – Students have been revising signs related to descriptive words about themselves as well as learning about the deaf community in Auslan. In addition, students learnt about deaf culture through Natalie’s presentation, a Deaf Speaker, who shared her life experience, dealing with deafness and then having cochlear implants surgery.
- Not all cochlear implant surgery is successful. However, people who have had success with this surgery can hear relatively well when they are wearing their implants.
