Principal's Message

Welcome back to our MPHPS Newsletter

As we near the end of November this term is closing in fast. I have no doubt many of you are starting to prepare for the Christmas break and may already have items on your 2025 calendar.  We are certainly doing the same here and are very excited to be celebrating the many achievements in 2024 while planning ahead.

Learning & Wellbeing

  • Reporting is in full force and staff are finalising student outcome growth against earlier goals and class targets. I commend the staff on working so hard to create differentiated programs to support student learning at their point of need.

  • 2025 Class organisation is currently underway.  Students had the options to nominate several friends and are guaranteed to get at least one friend in their 2025 class. There is no pressure placed on students to select their choices, however young children do naturally change their friendship groups which can cause some angst if they are with a person they now deem to be less important.  We do keep a record of their choices. Please note, once classes are set and balanced, it is extremely rare that we would make a shift.

  • Congratulations to the Year 4 Hoop Time teams and supporting coaches for their enthusiastic participation in this fantastic network basketball tournament.

  • Thank you to the many students and families who have so generously supported our Colour Run for 2024. While the event is still coming up, the fundraising element has now closed so that prizes can be ordered. These funds go back into programs that directly support your children.

Administration

  • You should have now received information about the $400 school saving bonus for 2025. It is the family’s responsibility to access the portal and select how to use the money on uniforms and school resources / events. The office and admin team do not make these selections for you, so please take the time to use your links and review the information.

  • School Council have recently discussed some terrific options for our playground upgrade in 2025. We have been saving all our fundraising money over 2024 to go towards some new equipment. OHS compliance is a huge factor in our upgrade and we aim to make sure our students are always safe.

  • A special thank you to the Admin team for organising such a smooth book pack collection pick up. It was fabulous to also have the second hand uniform on offer and the Food Bank donations with staples to add to community pantries. If any of you had missed this day, please contact the office to arrange an alternative collection date.

  • There will be some big moves and changes to our landscape in 2025 as we have been informed that Department of Education will be collecting some of our portables to be placed in growing schools around the state. This is due to a reduction in our school enrolment profile. We are currently preparing for this change and will be reorganising or clearing out unnecessary resources that once accommodated for a larger school. The portables will be collected early in 2025 so we have our work cut out for us in preparing for this over December and January. We thank you for your support in advance.

I urge you all to keep your eye out for activities and events that will be occurring over the last few weeks. This is a busy time as we near the end of term and we know that activities can be easily missed. A reminder that we do conclude at 12.45 on the final day, 20th December, so if you need to book after school care please contact Camp Australia soon.

Have a great fortnight

Chris
