Principals Message
Dear parents and carers,
On Tuesday we participated in a beautiful Mass to celebrate the Feast of Saint Francis Xavier, the patron saint of our school. The students sang so beautifully and were very reverent. We were joined by a small group of parents and grandparents.
We also acknowledged the service of the four Year 6 altar servers who have been faithful in their role helping with weekend and school Masses.
Saint Francis Xavier was a Catholic missionary who co-founded the Society of Jesus and, as a representative of the Portuguese Empire, led the first Christian mission to Japan.
Born in the town of Xavier, Kingdom of Navarre, he was a companion of Ignatius of Loyola and one of the first seven Jesuits who took vows of poverty and chastity at Montmartre, Paris in 1534. He led an extensive mission into Asia, and was influential in evangelisation work, most notably in early modern India. He was extensively involved in the missionary activity in Portuguese India.
He was beatified by Pope Paul Von 25 October 1619 and canonized by Pope Gregory on 12 March 1622.
Our final hymn was titled, “Go Make a Difference”. I encouraged the students to do just that. Start small, just make a difference in our world.
At morning tea time the students gathered in their HOUSE groups and shared a picnic, played games and generally enjoyed each other’s company. It was a joy to see everyone in each of their Houses celebrating.
THANK YOU
