Hands On Learning
The HoL Team have been donated some pickets and gate fittings from Bowens - The Builders Choice. Mai Laskey, the Senior Marketing Manager has organised this generous donation for Taylors Lakes Secondary College. These pickets will go towards the fence we are building around our Vegetable Garden to protect it and beautify the space. This generous donation will be put to valuable use to support the HoL Program.
Please go to Bowens for all your timber and hardware materials.
This week the HoL Team went to Watergardens for the third DIY provided by Bunnings this year and hosted by the events Manager Dee.
HoL students were given the opportunity to create two Christmas Crafts. The first was a wooden Nutcracker figure to be decorated at the tables with the provided paints. This was a fun activity with many different choices for colours and characters.
Next up, Dee provided each student with all the resources to make a Christmas wreath including small pine cones, glitter and different size baubles. We took photos of the completed work.
Bunnings had very generously put together a Christmas gift for each of the HoL Students comprising of an actual tradesperson's hammer which had been spray painted Gold and also a $20 Bunnings Voucher! The students were very happy and grateful.
After a break back at TLSC, half of the HoL Team returned to the Rebus Way Kindergarten to continue the refurb of the centre's Cubby House. This involved sanding and then painting the veranda deck and the front veranda posts. HoL have promised to return to complete the refurbishment as the staff and students have been very happy to see the improvements and being able to "give back to the community" is a key part of the HoL program.
