Student Leadership Program
Stage 1 completed!
Earlier this year, 5 of us from year 9 attended the Snowy River School for Student Leadership Program where we developed skills we can apply into our future. We enjoyed the many outdoor activities and lessons and were able to meet amazing people who helped us evolve into great leaders.
A big part of this program was the creation of a Community Learning Project (CLP) were we developed the idea of a mental health club for Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Here at Taylors Lakes we have been dedicating our time towards the mental health club called “Mind Matters” and sensory garden that will be part of the club.
So far, we have collaborated with the Hands on Learning team and Maintenance Coordinator, Monica, to plan out the structure of our garden and complete the first stage of our project. Within stage one we have finalised the draft of the garden layout and have planted our plants into the already established garden beds located behind the S block. Moving forward we are planning to refurbish the garden to be reopened in 2025 in adjoint with Mind Matters. We would like to extend a huge thankyou to the Hands on Learning students and staff, who helped make our project possible and embraced it with open arms. We look forward to working with you again next year, to fully bring this to life.
