Staffing For 2025
We have made a slight change of plans since our last newsletter, where we said we would be running with 7 classes in 2025. We have decided to run another 5/6 class for 2025, as this cohort of children are our largest group, and we were almost hitting 30 students per 5/6 class when we began working out the two-class formations. We have been through the recruitment process and are pleased to announce that Candice Buckland will be joining our SPS staff next year, working in 5/6.
Scoresby PS will now have 8 classes in 2025.
This also means we are farewelling some of our 2024 staff as they move onto new positions in the new year.
We’d like to wish Hannah Flintoff, Tracy Spelman and Sally Hou all the very best in their new positions, and sincerely thank them for their work and time at Scoresby PS.
We also would like to announce that Josh Arnold has completed his teaching degree and has picked up a teaching position in 2025. After working here for seven years as an integration aide, Josh is jumping into the world of primary school teaching! All the very best to you Josh, you will be missed!
Transition Reminder
We will hold two internal transition sessions for our students in the coming weeks to get them used to their new learning spaces, meet their 2025 cohorts, and then their 2025 teachers. These sessions will be held on:
- Cohort Transition Session........Friday 13th December
- Meet Your Teacher Session.....Tuesday 17th December

Celebrations
In the last few weeks, we have attended some terrific celebrations.
CU Graduation
Our second Children’s University (CU) graduation ceremony was held at Swinburne University - Hawthorn Campus on the evening of Tuesday 26th of November. These students have taken the opportunity to do extra learning beyond the classroom, record and collate their sessions, and work towards achieving over 30 extra hours of learning; some made it to over 60 hours of extra work!
Being part of the CU program teaches our students to strive for something, take on challenges, and reap the rewards of their efforts.
In 2024 we had 7 students graduate and this year we had 14 students graduate. It would be lovely to see more students get involved next year.
Congratulations to our 2025 Graduating Children’s University class.
Mihindu Children’s Foundation
On Sunday, the Mihindu Children’s Foundation celebrated the culture, dance and language of their homeland Sri Lanka. Vineetha, our lovely former OSHC worker, organised a celebration of young authors, musicians and dancers, and invited Mr and Mrs Hartley along to enjoy the evening. Vineetha does a lot of charity and service work for the Sri Lanken community. She also teaches at the Victorian Languages School on Saturdays.
One of our Scoresby families was part of the celebration, with one of our students in the main dance group. It was such a surprise to see Saneth in the show!
Scoresby Secondary College Art and Technology Showcase
The annual Art and Technology Showcase at Scoresby Secondary College was held last week. So much beautiful art was on display and our Scoresby kids’ work was right in there amongst it. Congratulations to Karen Coster for all the work she puts into the SPS Art program; there were so many varied pieces of art on display. We were able to snag the People’s Choice Awards in a few categories. Please see the Visual Arts section of this newsletter for more details.
We are very much looking forward to our own annual Art Show next week - Thursday 12th December.
Colour Run
Congratulations Scoresby families! You raised $1528 as part of our school's Colour Run. We also planted 3 corals, protected 42 turtles, and provided 162 meals for OzHarvest.
Well done to Annabelle in 5/6 who was our highest fundraiser. Everyone had an amazing time, with a special thanks going to Belinda Reynen and the PFA who organised the course.
