Principal's Report
Dear Rockhampton North Special School Community,
I hope this message finds you all well and energized as we move through these exciting final weeks of the term. It’s been wonderful to see the growth, enthusiasm, and dedication from our students and the community alike.
A big highlight recently has been Recycling Week, where our students embraced sustainability and showed incredible initiative. The activities were engaging and educational, teaching our kids the importance of looking after our planet. With competitions, presentations, and prizes, it’s been inspiring to watch them work together, collect recycling, and understand the impact of their actions. Thank you to everyone who supported this event and reinforced the importance of environmental responsibility at home.
I’d also like to extend a very warm welcome to our new families who are joining the Rockhampton North Special School community. It’s been fantastic getting to know you, and we look forward to supporting your children on their learning journey. Our recent Prep Open Day was a great success, with lots of smiles, excitement, and meaningful connections made. Thank you to all who attended and contributed to creating such a welcoming and positive experience for our newest learners and their families.
Our school’s focus remains strong on enhancing reading and decoding skills in Clusters 5 and 6, and creating a warm, inclusive atmosphere where every child feels a sense of belonging. Living our values of CARE, COURAGE, and COOPERATION has a ripple effect that reaches beyond the classroom, and it’s through your support that we see our students thrive.
I’d also like to acknowledge Jo and Sharon, who will be stepping into new leadership roles next year. Their passion for education and commitment to student learning will continue to strengthen our community.
Additionally, I’d like to remind families of their important role in our Social Media policy. Parents and carers are asked to supervise and guide their children’s use of social media and electronic devices. By reinforcing responsible online behaviour at home and ensuring children understand the impact of their digital interactions, you are helping to create a safer, more respectful online community. We encourage you to have open conversations about online safety and to report any concerning behaviour to the school, so we can work together to support our students.
As we prepare for the holiday season, let’s continue to celebrate our children’s achievements, big and small. Whether it’s mastering a new skill or showing kindness to a friend, each accomplishment is a testament to their hard work and your unwavering support as parents and caregivers.
Thank you for being an integral part of our journey. Here’s to a wonderful finish to the term!
Take care and keep smiling!
Kind regards,
Dehlia Dawson
