Dear CPS Community,

Another busy week has flown by! As always, Term 4 is packed with exciting events and these last 2 weeks has been no exception.

We will be celebrating our amazing teachers at CPS next Friday for World Teachers Day - Hats Off to Teachers on World Teachers' Day - Friday 31 October. Our teachers who nurture, inspire, support, and empower our children and young people at Craigieburn Primary School every single day. We encourage our school community to reach out to show your gratitude whether it’s a morning or afternoon chat at the door/gate, sending a heartfelt message or thank you card, there are many simple ways to show your appreciation.

As communicated earlier this week, our students amaze us every day with growth in their learning, acts of kindness towards others and their dedication to demonstrate our school values. We are proud of the achievements of our students and to celebrate this we are excited to announce a new initiative to further recognise student achievements at CPS in Excellence, Learning and Community and make greater connections between home and school.

‘Student Recognition’ will be communicated to families via the school Compass platform. Each child that receives a recognition will be awarded 5 Positive Points, which they can redeem in their classroom through the School Wide Positive Behaviour Supports (SWPBS) menu.

We look forward to recognising and celebrating many achievements across all year levels and specialist classes.

Staffing Update

We would like to welcome back Hayley Hoffman from family leave. Ms Hoffman will be working across the Junior school, we are very excited to see Ms Hoffman back at CPS.

We welcome Nathan Kecatos to our Wellbeing ES team. Mr Kecatos brings vast experience working in a variety of school settings and supporting students. He has a passion for working with students with complex behaviours and making a difference in young people’s lives.

2026 Enrolments

As we continue the planning process for the 2026 school year, we would greatly appreciate if families could notify the school if your child/ren will not be returning to CPS in 2026 as soon as possible.

Any current families that are yet to enrol 2026 Prep students are asked to do so as a priority as our 2026 Prep Transition has already begun and we would like all new Prep families to be involved in this program.

2026 Grade Placements

CPS is a medium to large school and as such we are not able to accommodate parent requests for grade placements, friendship groups and/or teachers.

Our 2026 classes will be generated based on student needs from a social, academic, wellbeing and behavioural perspective. Teaching teams, Specialist staff, ES staff and Leadership review all classes to ensure the most appropriate placement of students.

A range of factors are considered based on some simple principles:

  • Classes need to have a gender balance
  • Classes need an academically and wellbeing compatible balance
  • Classes need a ‘social behaviour’ balance
  • Children need to be placed with familiar faces while at the same time acknowledging that some children work better with certain students than others irrespective of friendships.

Staff also look for compatible learning partners, considering current friendship groups, and encourage the development of new friendships.

Upcoming Pupil Free Day & Public Holiday

A reminder Monday 4th November is a Pupil Free Day followed by the Melbourne Cup Holiday on Tuesday 5th November.

We hope you all enjoy your weekend!
