JS Library Donations!
BMGS is so lucky to have very generous families. In Term 1, both Junior Schools held Book Fairs on Grandparent’s Day. This involved Megalong Bookshop supplying a range of books for sale and a retail staff member to assist with purchases. The books could be bought by families for their own home libraries, or to donate to their respective JS Library branches.
As a result of this event, the JSS Library received 19 books to the value of $429, and the JSW Library received 48 books to the value of $1150. This is a great result, and the Library appreciates every book that was donated. They all complement the collections very well, and are great additions for student use and enjoyment. I wish to send a Big THANK YOU to all the Grandparents and Families who chose some wonderful titles from the selection and kindly donated new books.
The custom is that donor students borrow the books first, and have a bookplate inserted inside the cover with their names on them. I have finished cataloguing and processing the JSS donations, which are currently being borrowed by the donor students. I am nearly finished cataloguing and processing the JSW donations, and they will soon be distributed to donor students as well.
Another THANK YOU to the 2024 JSS Year 4 Cohort, who donated numerous popular fiction titles for the JSS Library before they left at the end of last year. With preparing the Book Fair books, I have not yet completed those donations, but they will be put on the New Books display for borrowing when they are ready. I am sure your JSS friends will enjoy reading these books too!
Another THANK YOU to the Lowe Family for their kind donation of books from their home library which they no longer need, and wished to share with JS students. Some great popular titles were received, and these will be catalogued and processed when I have completed the JSW Book Fair books.
Thank You again for all your kind donations of books to assist our students in their education, learning, and enjoyment of reading.
