National Simultaneous Storytime
The Grade 5/6 students were excited to take part in the National Simultaneous Storytime alongside their buddies on Wednesday 21st May. This event is live-streamed, with students around the country tuning in to hear the book being read by the author. This year, the book read was, The Truck Cat, written by Deborah Frenkel. After listening to the story, students engaged in an art and craft session, re-creating trucks and cats. See some of the creations below.
Maths
Over the last few weeks, the students have been focusing on the Measurement strand of Mathematics. The Grade 6 students have been focusing on converting between measurements (e.g., 5cm=50mm), whilst the Grade 5s have been accurately measuring the length and capacity of familar objects and areas within the school.
English
This past two weeks, we have been looking at advertisements and the persuasive techniques used by companies to sell their products, whether it be through catchy jingles, slogans, special deals or emotive language, just to name a few. The Grade 5 students spent time creating an advertisement for a product that has been a 'fad' at one time or another- be sure to check these out on our Google Classroom!
