Principal's Message

As we celebrate Catholic Schools Week amidst this Jubilee year, we embrace our identity as Pilgrims of Hope—grateful for the journey so far and inspired to walk boldly into the future. This way of being, deeply resonates with the theme of this year’s National Reconciliation Week - Bridging Now to Next, in which all Australians are called ‘step forward together, to look ahead and continue to push forward as past lessons guide us.’
Earlier this term, I participated in the Australian Catholic Primary School Principals' Association Conference, where hope was the encapsulating message. We were challenged to consider: do we simply fix the past, or dare to invent the future? At Joey’s, we choose to imagine a future shaped by hope, creativity and faith. Derek Wenmoth provoked us to consider that systems don’t innovate—people do. It’s our skilled helpful adults, our young people and families who bring new ideas to life through caring relationships, and courage. Speakers spoke of the power of brief, positive moments. These are the moments we see and feel in our classrooms and playgrounds, even the smallest acts of kindness and encouragement leave lasting marks. And we were reminded that more doesn’t equal better—what matters is clarity, purpose and connection.
Together, these messages call us to lead with heart, teach with hope, and walk as pilgrims toward a future shaped not by fear, but by faith.
May this Jubilee Year be a celebration of all we have been—and all we are becoming.
