🌷 Honouring Mothers and Mary, Our Mother 🌷

Celebrating Mothers through Faith

As we prepare to celebrate Mother’s Day, we take time to honour the incredible role of mothers, grandmothers, and all mother figures in our lives. In our Catholic tradition, we are reminded of the nurturing, guiding, and unconditional love that mothers show - a reflection of God’s own love for us.

Mary, the Mother of Jesus

This is also a beautiful opportunity to reflect on Mary, the mother of Jesus, who is a model of faith, courage, and compassion. Just as Mary said “yes” to God, mothers each day say “yes” to caring, loving, and supporting their families.

Prayer and Reflection at School

In classrooms, students have been learning about and praying to Mary. Many classes have taken part in writing prayers of thanksgiving for their mothers and creating special cards or artworks (see cover photo). These simple acts help children connect faith with gratitude and love.

A Prayer for Mothers

You might like to pray this at home with your child:

“Loving God, thank you for the gift of mothers. May they always feel your love and be blessed with strength, patience, and joy. Like Mary, may they continue to guide with gentle hearts. Amen.”

✝️ Confirmation Preparation

As we journey with our Year 6 students towards the Sacrament of Confirmation, we encourage families to support their children through prayer, conversation, and reflection at home. Take time to talk with your child about the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how they can live out their faith in everyday life.

🕊️ Sacrament Resource for Families:

The Archdiocese of Melbourne has developed a helpful website for parents and families preparing for the sacraments.đź”— sacraments.melbournecatholic.org

This site includes information about Confirmation, suggestions for prayer, and ways to deepen your family's faith journey at home.

  • Information Session: Monday 19th May, 3:00–3:30pm in the STEM room.

Slides will be shared afterward for those unable to attend.

  • Bishop’s Visit & Retreat Day: Tuesday 20th May. This day will offer students time to reflect, pray, and prepare meaningfully.
  • Sacrament of Confirmation: Wednesday 29th May at 5:00pm. We look forward to this special celebration with Bishop Tony Ireland.
