Principal Reflections

Dear Parents and Carers,
Our Three Rules for Living:
I am Safe, I am Valued, Respected and Cared for, I am a Learner.
I wanted to take a moment to talk about something incredibly important that makes our school a truly wonderful place to learn and grow: respect.
Imagine our school community is like a giant lolly jar. Inside, there are all sorts of different assortments of lollies – some are bright and colourful, some are chewy, some are hard, and some are soft. Each one is unique and adds its own special flavour to the mix.
Just like those lollies, every person in our school – every student, every teacher, every staff member – is unique and brings their own special qualities and perspectives. When we show respect to one another, we're essentially making sure that every "lolly" in our jar is valued and appreciated at our school.
What happens if we don't show respect? It's like someone is shaking up the lolly jar too much, or even squashing some of the lollies! When we use unkind words, exclude others, or don't listen to what someone else is saying, it spoils the sweetness for everyone. It makes people feel small, unheard, or even hurt.
But when we choose to be respectful, something wonderful happens. We create a sweet, harmonious environment where everyone feels safe, valued, respected, and ready to learn. We can do this by:
Listening to others: Just like you'd carefully choose a lolly from the jar, take the time to truly hear what your classmates and teachers are saying.
Using kind words and actions: Think of your words as delicious wrappers. Do they protect and present something good, or do they crinkle and spoil what's inside?
Celebrating differences: Remember, the best lolly jars have a variety! Embrace and appreciate that everyone is different.
Helping each other: Sometimes a lolly might get stuck. Offering a helping hand or a kind word can make all the difference.
Taking care of our school environment: This is our shared lolly jar! Keeping it clean and tidy shows respect for everyone who uses it.
By consistently showing respect to our peers and to all staff members, we contribute to a positive and supportive atmosphere where everyone can thrive. Thanks for reminding your child about the importance of respect.
Exciting News!
We are thrilled to announce an exciting new development for our school community! We will soon begin construction on a brand-new, multipurpose outdoor court. This fantastic new facility will provide expanded opportunities for a wide range of sports and activities, enhancing our physical education programs, offering more options for lunchtime play, and providing a versatile space for our students. We anticipate the court will be ready for action by November/December this year. We can't wait to see our students enjoying this excellent addition to our school grounds at the Primary Campus!
Thanks to Fr. Roel, John O'Connor (Armidale Catholic Schools), the School Advisory Council, and my wonderful PA, Mel Salvestrin, for their excellent support of this proposal and for getting it moving. The multipurpose court will be positioned at the bottom of the oval near the Primary School, where the cricket nets are located. See image below:
Congratulations to our Design Winners
I want to extend a huge congratulations to all the students involved in designing our new outdoor space. Your creativity and thoughtful planning have resulted in an outstanding vision for an area that effectively promotes gross motor skill development, ensures fun, and actively encourages participation in a variety of sports for students of all abilities. We were so impressed by the innovative ways you incorporated different activities. Well done! Our winners enjoyed a special lunch today. Congratulations to Nixon, Cian, Bowen, Xavier, Alexis, Cooper, Nevaeh, Merin, Arabella, Ella and Ellie.
