National Sorry Day
On Monday, the school week began with a thoughtful and moving assembly for National Sorry Day, a time to acknowledge the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly the Stolen Generations, and the importance of truth-telling in our shared history.
During the assembly, Gus, one of our First Nations Ambassadors, and Luca, one of our School Ambassadors, shared powerful personal reflections on what Sorry Day means to them. Gus spoke with courage and honesty about the enduring impact that the Stolen Generations has had on him. His words reminded us that the past is not just history—it continues to shape the present.
This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme, "Bridging Now to Next," invites us all to reflect on our shared past, consider our present, and work together towards a better future, where all people are treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.
The assembly concluded with the planting of hands, a visual symbol of reconciliation and solidarity with First Nations people.
A Reminder…
Friday 6th June is a student-free curriculum day where staff will be working on assessment and reporting.
