Principals Report
Sue Carr
Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of St Brendan’s,
At St Brendan’s, we are committed to ensuring that every student is known, encouraged, challenged and supported. As we move through the middle of Term 2, it has been wonderful to see our students settled into their learning routines and working in such a positive and focused manner. It is always my pleasure to visit classrooms and witness the enthusiasm, collaboration, persistence and engagement our students bring to their learning each day.
Over the past fortnight, many valuable learning opportunities and community events have taken place across our school.
Teeth On Wheels - Dental Service
We welcomed the Teeth on Wheels Dental Service, providing students and families with convenient access to dental care and education. Thank you to all families who participated in this important initiative. We look forward to offering this service again in 2027.
Dr Jodi Richardson
We were also fortunate to host Dr Jodi Richardson, a psychologist, who spoke with parents about anxiety in children and practical ways families can provide support. We thank Dr Richardson for sharing her expertise and offering valuable insights to the members of our parent community who were able to attend this informative event. Thank you Camille Rossouw for liaising with Dr Richardson to organise such an informative evening.
Walk to School Day

Last Friday, students, parents, siblings and teachers enthusiastically participated in Walk to School Day. It was wonderful to see so many students joining staff at Tillerkite Kindergarten enjoying the opportunity to be active, social and healthy before the school day began. My thanks go to Camille Rossouw, our Wellbeing leader, who coordinated the walk.
District Cross Country

Congratulations to all students who represented St Brendan’s at the District Cross Country event held last Friday at Ballam Park. We are proud of the determination, sportsmanship and resilience displayed by all competitors. Thank you to Mr Tom Porter, our P.E.teacher and the Year 3-6 staff who attended.
5/6V Assembly
Thank you to the Year 5/6V class for leading a wonderful school assembly yesterday. Students showcased their learning with confidence and pride, and we appreciate the effort that went into preparing such an engaging presentation. Thank you as always to the many parents who were able to attend.
Important reminder about after school ground safety
We love seeing our families connecting as community and enjoying the school playgrounds, but please remember that official teacher supervision finishes at 3:15 pm each day. After this time, staff are only on duty to help clear the designated pickup zones. If your children, including any younger siblings, are playing on the school grounds after 3:15 pm, they are fully in your care. Please keep a close eye on them to ensure everyone stays safe and happy after the bell.
School Uniform
Please ensure your children wear the correct school uniform every day so we all look part of the same team. For the winter uniform, students are required to wear all-black school shoes with navy socks. On P.E. days, the students are required to wear their full sports uniform paired with white sports socks and any type of sports shoes. Thank you for your support in this matter.
School Advisory Council
Our School Council will meet tonight. I am grateful to the members of the SAC who provide important input into discussion on key topics. I thank each of them for their willingness to collaborate and plan for the continued growth of our school community. We thank our School Council members for their ongoing commitment and support.
National Reconciliation Week Mass
We also look forward to our National Reconciliation Mass, prepared by our Year 1/2 teachers and students, and celebrated by Father Shymon on Thursday 28th May at 11.30am. This year’s theme reminds us that reconciliation is a journey we walk together as a community. Our students have been preparing special readings and reflections to honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures. We would love for our families to join us to pray, reflect and gather with us as we commit to building a future focused on respect, unity, and deep connection. All are warmly welcome to attend.
S.R.C World Cup Soccer Day - June 11
Looking ahead, excitement is building for World Soccer Day, which is being designed and led by our Year 5/6 SRC students. We thank our student leaders for their initiative, organisation and enthusiasm in creating opportunities for community participation and fun.
On June 11, all students are warmly invited to dress in their soccer gear or in the colours of the team they will support during the World Cup. The students will have an opportunity to complete some soccer based activities. All parents are welcome to see our parade of teams that will be held at 2.45 pm.
Mini Vinnies and Social Justice Action Team - Winter Appeal
Our Mini Vinnies and Social Justice Action Team continue to demonstrate outstanding leadership through their coordination of the 2026 Winter Appeal. We encourage families to support this important initiative by donating non-perishable groceries that will be useful to families in our local area who are struggling. We encourage all who are able to send grocery items to their children’s classrooms this year. They will use them as part of their prayer each day. Thank you all so much for your ongoing generosity and support.
Sand Toy Donation

We would also like to sincerely thank Ky Vanderplight (Willow and Rylan) for her generous donation of trucks, diggers and sandpit toys for our students. The children have already greatly enjoyed these additions to our sandpit. We are extremely grateful for this kindness and generosity. Families are also warmly invited to keep an eye out in opportunity shops for strong, second hand sandpit toys that may be suitable for our students to enjoy.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. Together, we continue to nurture a welcoming and thriving learning community where every child can flourish.
Have a wonderful week.
Warm regards,
Sue
