Education in Faith

We thank Fr Antony’s visit to LS1 Senior Home Group ‘TP’ yesterday
(Thursday 28th May)
When Fr Anthony came to our space, we learnt about how the Catholic Church has changed over time. Along with that, we also learnt about the Nicene Creed, which tells us about our beliefs.
Dityaa TP
I learnt about what the Creed was all about, the Basilica, St Patrick's Cathedral, and our Pope, and why he turned around to the tabernacle while praying. It was a very fascinating discussion, and I would love for Fr Anthony to visit our school again!

Feast of the Most Holy Trinity
“Living in the Love of the Trinity”
The Feast of the Most Holy Trinity invites us into one of the deepest mysteries of our faith, God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. While the Trinity can seem difficult to fully understand, today’s readings remind us that the Trinity is not simply a doctrine to explain, but a relationship of perfect love that we are invited to share in.
In the First Reading from the Book of Exodus, Moses encounters God on Mount Sinai. God reveals Himself as “a God of tenderness and compassion, slow to anger, rich in kindness and faithfulness.”
This beautiful description reminds us that God’s nature is loving, patient, merciful, and faithful. Even after the people turned away from God, He continued to remain close to them. God does not abandon His people. Instead, he constantly calls them back into a relationship.
The Responsorial Psalm echoes this message of praise and wonder:
“Glory and praise forever!”
The psalm invites all creation to bless and praise God. It reminds us that God’s presence can be seen in the beauty of the world, in acts of kindness, and in the love shared between people. The Trinity is revealed not through power alone, but through love, unity, and relationship.
In the Second Reading, St Paul encourages the Christian community to live in peace, unity, and love:
“Encourage one another, live in harmony and peace.”
The Trinity teaches us how to live with others. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit exist in perfect unity while still being distinct persons. In the same way, we are called to respect one another’s differences while living together in compassion, forgiveness, and understanding.
The Gospel from Gospel of John contains one of the most well-known verses in Scripture:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son.”
This Gospel reminds us that God’s love is not distant or conditional. God enters our world through Jesus to bring healing, hope, and salvation. Jesus reveals the face of the Father, and the Holy Spirit continues to guide and strengthen us today. The Trinity shows us that God’s very nature is love shared freely with the world.
As followers of Christ, we are called to reflect the life of the Trinity in our everyday actions. Whenever we forgive, welcome others, help someone in need, or pray together, we reveal something of God’s loving presence. The Sign of the Cross that we make so often is not just a routine gesture, it is a reminder that we belong to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Feast of the Holy Trinity encourages us to ask:
- How can I reflect God’s love in my relationships?
- How can my family, school, or parish become a stronger community of unity and peace?
- How can I grow closer to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit through prayer and action?
Discussion Starters
- What does the Sign of the Cross remind us about God?
- How does God show love to us every day?
- What are ways we can show kindness and unity to others?
- Why is forgiveness important in families and friendships?
- Why do you think the Trinity is described as a relationship of love?
- What can families, schools, and communities learn from the unity of the Trinity?
- How does today’s Gospel show God’s love for the world?
- In what ways can Christians reflect the Trinity in modern society?
- Why is community important in our faith journey?
A Prayer Reflection with families:
Loving Father, You created us in love.Jesus, Son of God, You showed us how to live with compassion and mercy.Holy Spirit, Guide us to live in peace, unity, and kindness.
May we reflect the love of the Holy Trinity in our words, actions, and relationships each day.
Amen.
SFS needs Altar Servers
SFS warmly invites Grade 3 - 6 students who have received their First Eucharist and are interested in becoming altar servers to attend the upcoming training session at St. Kevin’s Church on Sunday, 14th June at 3 pm.
All altar servers and those interested in joining the ministry are invited to attend this training session.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our children to deepen their faith, serve the parish community, and learn more about the Mass.
We encourage all interested students to come along and participate in this special ministry. Thank you for supporting your child in this meaningful journey of faith and service.

GRADE 5/6 SOCIAL JUSTICE TEAM – MINI VINNIES
Today Mini Vinnies were busy collecting and counting points. They also had to count and collect the Winter Appeal items donated, as well as checking expiry date before putting them in bags to store for when our SVDP Conference comes to pick them up.
FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART – SFS WINTER APPEAL
Our Winter Appeal is well underway. House baskets had a variety of items in them. Mini Vinnies counted the items in each House basket to allocate points to the Houses for items donated. They then collected the items to make room for more items to be donated next week. The results after our first week of our Winter Appeal:
1st | Teresa | 57 |
2nd | Bosco | 52 |
3rd | Patrick | 44 |
4th | MacKillop | 35 |
Well done SFS! We already have a total of 270 items! A reminder to parents that any food items donated must be before the used by or best before date. We are not able to give out food that is out of date. Unfortunately, last year quite a bit of food was thrown out due to the fact that it was expired. All donation are due by Friday 12th June which is the Feast of the Sacred Heart.
I have also included a link if you would like to watch an explanation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus with your family. It is a child friendly explanation and will help them understand why we have the Winter Appeal.

COMMUNITY SPIRIT HOUSE POINTS
Students will continue to be given points for demonstrating Community Spirit, in particular our PBL Values. Students are also being given points for the items they donate to our Winter Appeal which will assist those in our community who are struggling this winter. These points have been added to the Community Spirit House points.
1st | Patrick | 2 499 |
2nd | Teresa | 2 205 |
3rd | MacKillop | 2 117 |
4th | Bosco | 2 013 |
Well done Patrick! However, it’s only Term 2 and the points are so close!
AND NOW FROM MINI VINNIES…..
THANK YOU, MINI VINNIES!
I would like to thank the Mini Vinnies for always being willing to give up their lunchtime to count points, food and toiletry donations and then checking used by or best before dates on the food donated before placing them in bags. You are definitely making a difference, leading by example in our school and within our community. Thank you!
