School Psychologist
We are pleased to offer access to a psychologist who operates from the school one day each week to support the wellbeing needs of our students. A significant benefit of this service is that there is no out-of-pocket cost for families, provided students have a Mental Health Care Plan from their GP. Appointments take place onsite during school hours, making the service convenient and easily accessible for families. If you would like further information about accessing this support for your child, please contact the school office.
Building Works – Community Feedback for Master Plan
Our school has received $500,000 in State Government funding to develop a master plan for future works. We want to hear from our parents, carers and locals about what you’d like to see in Marlborough Primary School. The results of this survey will help to shape our school’s new upgrades.
Please take a few minutes to complete our survey: https://forms.gle/249xZq57ZbtFomSZA
Thank you to the many parents and carers who have already shared their ideas and feedback. The survey will remain open until Friday 5 June.
We appreciate your time and support as we work together to help shape the future of Marlborough Primary School.
Dogs on School Grounds 🐶
At Marlborough Primary, we know that many of our families have much-loved pet dogs at home. While we understand how important they are, we also need to ensure our school grounds remain safe and comfortable for everyone. For this reason, pet dogs are not permitted on school grounds. The only exceptions are assistance dogs and approved school therapy dogs, with supporting documentation provided to the office.
As our community is diverse, some students and families may feel unsure around dogs or have allergies. To help keep everyone feeling safe, we kindly ask that families leave pet dogs at home or wait outside the school grounds when collecting children. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Reporting
We will be providing student achievement reports for Semester 1 this year as usual, with the reports distributed on Thursday, 25th June. The reports will continue to provide important details about student learning attainment, but full descriptive comments will not be included as a result of industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union.
We will of course be pleased to discuss with you your child’s progress at our next parent-teacher interviews scheduled for the beginning of Term 3.
Science Afternoon 🧪🔬
Thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us for our Science Afternoon in the classrooms as part of Education Week. It was wonderful to see so many families engaging in learning activities and sharing in the excitement of science with our students.
Your support and involvement help make our school community so special, and our students loved having the opportunity to showcase their learning with you. We appreciate you taking the time to celebrate Education Week with us.
Assemblies
Please note that for the remainder of this term, all school assemblies will commence at 3:00pm. This time will help ensure consistency across our weekly schedule.
On this day…
I thought it would be fun to share in each newsletter, a few interesting moments from history that happened around this time of year. Enjoy!
- 25th May 1977: Star Wars Released: The original Star Wars movie (Episode IV – A New Hope) premiered in theatres, reshaping film history. (Yep, that is nearly 50 years ago!!)
- 26th May: National Sorry Day (First Held 1998). Held for the first time on the one-year anniversary of the Bringing Them Home report, this day is held annually to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations survivors and to commemorate the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families.
- 27th May 1925: Australia’s first commercial radio station, 2UE, began broadcasting in Sydney.
Have a wonderful week!
Kind regards,
