Principal Team Report
Creating Futures Together
As we move toward the end of another busy and productive term, we would like to acknowledge the many ways our students continue to represent the College with commitment and enthusiasm.
Firstly, congratulations to the students who recently represented the College at the Division Cross Country. We are very proud of all students who participated. Thank you also to the staff who supported and encouraged our students in their preparation and on the day.
There are several events coming up across the next few weeks. Planning for 2027 subject selections will soon begin, with Years 8 to 11 subject presentations commencing in classes. This process will begin with a Year 8 into 9 Subject Expo on Monday 1st June, where students will have the opportunity to hear from older peers about the electives offered in Year 9 and gain valuable insight into making informed choices for their learning pathway. These presentations are an important part of helping students and families understand the options available and begin considering future pathways with confidence.
The 2027 Middle and Senior School Handbooks will be published shortly on the College website. The handbooks contain valuable information for families to reflect on prior to online presentations and submissions of 2027 subject preferences early in Term 3. The College community will be informed of updates in this space.
Our Units 1 and 3 VCE Music Performance recitals will take place on Tuesday 2 June at 5.00 pm. We look forward to celebrating the talent of our music students as they showcase their work.
The Year 10 and 11 exam period will commence on Wednesday 3 June and conclude on Monday 15 June. Exams provide an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and also to build valuable skills in preparation for senior studies. We encourage all students to maintain consistent routines and prepare thoroughly, if required please seek support from Senior School leaders.
Following the exam period, Year 10 and 11 students will participate in 1-on-1 Learning Conversations to receive feedback on their examination performance. These conversations are a valuable part of the learning process, helping students to reflect on their strengths and identify areas for growth.
The General Achievement Test (GAT) will then take place on Tuesday 16 June for relevant students.
Families, please be aware Friday 19 June will be a student-free day to allow for assessment finalisation.
We are also seeking community consultation regarding the College Student Dress Code policy, which is on the agenda for the June School Council meeting. We are keen for families to share their perspectives on the dress code itself, the processes and clarification that support its implementation. Please access this short survey here; we encourage families to take a few moments to contribute their feedback. Community voice is an important part of ensuring our policies reflect shared values and support student wellbeing.
Finally, families are reminded that the Respectful Relationships curriculum continues to be delivered across Years 7–12, aligned with the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) framework. This learning supports students in developing healthy relationships, empathy, emotional literacy and strategies for respectful engagement with others. Information and links for families will continue to be shared so that parents and carers can better understand the content being taught and support these important conversations at home.
Through consultation with students, parents/carers and staff, we are proud to present our College Wellbeing Framework. The Wellbeing Framework provides a multi-tiered systems of supports structure to explain how the College supports students; from curriculum, to incursions and targeted interventions for prior cohorts. There are also four Wellbeing values for the framework – Relationships – Connectedness – Resilience – Partnerships. These values are also linked to the Department of Education’s High Impact Wellbeing Strategies which outline 7 key evidence-based elements that have demonstrated a significant and positive effect on student wellbeing. We look forward to a process of implementation and embedding the framework into the culture of the College.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of our students and our College community.
