High Achievers' Program (HAP)
We have reached the end of Term 3 and what a busy and exciting term it has been for our High Achievers' Program students! Throughout the term, students have continued to embrace a range of enriching learning opportunities that have challenged them to think critically, collaborate with others and extend their knowledge beyond the classroom.
Environmental Summit at Nossal High School
Students had the wonderful opportunity to attend an Environmental Summit at Nossal High School. Eight of our students participated in this engaging day, which focused on the theme “Discover, Connect and Grow.”
Throughout the summit, students heard from a panel of experts and participated in a range of interactive activities designed to deepen their understanding of environmental issues. The experience provided students with an opportunity to collaborate with peers from other schools, broaden their perspectives and explore practical ways they can contribute positively to their communities.
Viral Enigma Excursion
Students also took part in the Viral Enigma excursion, an immersive and interactive learning experience centred around viruses, mutations and transmission within a global pandemic scenario.
Working in teams, students applied their knowledge and developed their problem-solving, algorithmic thinking and mathematical reasoning skills through a game-based simulation. The experience encouraged students to think strategically, communicate effectively and work collaboratively to solve complex challenges.
The Viral Enigma excursion was great. It was fun to interact with new students from other schools, to complete puzzles and stop a virus. We learnt about DNA and simulated a zombie outbreak on computers. We worked together in groups to complete various tasks like the cube puzzles sharing our knowledge with our group to find the cure. Debating Event-
Over the past three weeks, a group of Year 7 and 8 students from the High Achievers Program (HAP) had the fantastic opportunity to participate in a debating competition at Kambrya College, hosted by the Debaters Association of Victoria (DAV). It was an incredibly rewarding experience where we had a lot of fun, built our confidence, and developed vital public speaking and critical thinking skills along the way. We had the privilege of testing our skills against other schools and walked away feeling incredibly proud of our growth.

Our Berwick team remained undefeated across all three rounds, a fantastic achievement!
Shachi Beniwal was named Best Speaker twice, while Bill Pham received the award once.
We are very proud of their confidence, teamwork and dedication throughout the competition.
VHAP Program
We also celebrated another successful VHAP program last term. As we do each term, the program provided our high-achieving students with opportunities to extend their thinking, challenge themselves and engage with learning beyond the regular classroom environment.
VHAP Maths was a fun experience. We interacted with other students to solve challenging math problems. We also solved the simple problems with all different types of methods made from different mathematicians. Overall, VHAP maths was challenging but intriguing. - Alicia Manadheera 8E
As we approach the end of the term, we would like to congratulate our students on their achievements and thank them for their continued enthusiasm and participation. We hope everyone returns refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning, challenge and new opportunities!
