State Senior Boys Netball

On Monday 31 August, the Senior Boys Netballers made their way to the Waverley Netball Centre to compete in the SSV State Finals Day.

Our first match was against Castlemaine SC, it was a tight tussle in the first half but we came out winners 16-11. Next was St Brigids C Horsham. The boys played so well and took out the match 17-9. The final pool match was against Sacred Heart Kyneton. This was another victory 19-11.

Next step was the semi-final, up against Ringwood SC. Both teams had tall players and the battle for the ball was tough. Alas, when the final siren went, we were on the wrong side of the ledger. Ringwood went on to win the State title.

The boys placed 3rd in the State. A mighty fine effort by all players. The boys were cheered on loudly by their family members who made the journey – we thank you for your ongoing support. Will we go around again in 2027 and see if we can go one better.

Team manager – Jackson Oldham, Head Cheerleader – Archie Hooper and our long distance player - Ben Lane 😂 Very proud of you all.

Year 8 Boys Tennis

On Monday 14 September, the Year 8 Boys Tennis team ventured out to the Casey Fields Tennis Centre to represent Berwick College. This was the zone level of the competition. The Boys team was Rihaab Faris, Yuvraj Malik, Athvithan Nagarajan and Jaxon Westling. The team fought hard and played in great spirit.

Well done to the boys for achieving this level of competition and for playing with fairness and sportsmanship for the competition.

Year 8 Girls Tennis

Well done to the Year 8 girls on their participation in inter-school tennis. The girls competed against three schools in a combination of singles and doubles matches and showed great competitiveness throughout the warm day. Although we didn’t come away with the win, it was great to see the girls' sportsmanship, growing confidence and the way they worked together to support each other throughout the day. Some matches even went into long back-and-forth sudden deaths, which was great to see!

Division Athletics Success!

Our students represented the College with great pride at the recent Division Athletics Carnival, with 40 students from Years 7–12 competing across a wide range of track and field events throughout the day.

It was fantastic to see the commitment and team spirit shown by our students. Everyone gave their best effort, and many students stepped up to compete in additional events when other competitors were absent, ensuring we had representation across as many events as possible. This willingness to support the team made a huge difference to our overall result.

We had many students place across their individual events, with some outstanding performances throughout the day.

As a team, we finished 2nd overall out of the eight schools competing, which is an excellent achievement. We also finished 1st out of all eight schools in the 12–13 Years Boys, 12–13 Years Girls and 14 Years Girls categories.

A huge congratulations to every student who competed. Whether they walked away with a medal, achieved a personal best, or simply stepped outside their comfort zone and gave an event a go, every contribution helped our team achieve such a strong result.

Next Stop: SMR Athletics

We are incredibly excited to announce that 21 students have qualified to represent the College at the SMR Athletics Carnival in the first week back of Term 4.

Congratulations to all of our athletes on an outstanding day, and best of luck to our 21 SMR competitors! 

We look forward to seeing them continue to represent the College with pride.
