Senior Years - Term 3 - Weeks 5 & 6

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are nearly at the conclusion of term 3, and students have been engaged in some fantastic learning across key areas:

English

We have started reading the Grandest Book Shop In The World by Amelia Mellor. Students have thoroughly enjoyed the text and will use this as inspiration to write their own narrative.

Maths

Our recent focus has been on addition and subtraction of decimals. Our next topics in Maths include Measurement and Time.

Inquiry

This term’s topic is Cyber Safety. We’re learning how to stay safe and respectful online, protect personal information, and be responsible digital citizens.

Religion

In Religion, we’re starting to explore the topic of Creation and how these stories shape the beliefs and values of different faiths. Students are reflecting on their meaning and relevance today.

At home you could support student learning by:

  • Listening to your child read
  • Investigate our mentor text (The Grandest Bookshop In The World by Amelia Mellor)
  • Calculate the Addition and Subtraction of decimals.
  • Discuss upcoming basic concepts of maths topics such as measurement and Time.
  • Ask your child questions about the presentation all 5/6 students had with local policeman Leigh Johnson on Cyber Safety.
  • Discuss what the good personal traits are of your child and how they are beneficial.
