Middle Years - Term 3 - Weeks 7 & 8

Year 3 & 4

Literacy

In Literacy, we have been continuing on with our text ‘Finding our Heart’ by Thomas Mayo. The students have still been moving through the process of a personal response piece, practicing their summarising also. During spelling and grammar lessons, we have been focusing on prefixes ‘re’ and ‘pre’. Example focus words include rebuild, rewrite, premix, prepaid.

Maths

In Maths, we have been working hard on our topic of ‘decimals’. We have been particularly looking at tenths, hundredths, ordering, renaming, partitioning and applying decimals to real life contexts. The children have been working hard on what is a somewhat challenging topic.

Religion

In Religion, we have introduced a new topic of creation. We have been focusing on what we are grateful for in God’s creation such as the land, water, animals and world in general.

Inquiry

In Inquiry, we have been working through our topic, ‘What Makes Us Healthy?’ the students are now finalizing this topic by creating a brochure type project which focuses on the knowledge they have gained from the past 6 weeks on these topics.

At home you can reinforce learning by:
