Year 1/2

We cannot believe that we are already at the end of Term 3! Where does the time go? This term has been one to remember, looking back we have watched the 1/2 students learn and grow in all areas.
Some highlights of Term 3 include:
- The Geelong Cats visit where we got to meet Jeremy Cameron, Bailey Smith & Rhys Stanley - the kids (and teachers) were so excited!
- Our Novel Study with a focus on Dr Seuss' The Lorax.
- The introduction of 'Multiply Guy' & 'Dave the Divider' in Maths
- Book Week, where we dressed up as our favourite book characters
- Our Spelling Bee
- R U OK? Day & Jump Rope for Heart
- Our information texts with a focus on sea creatures
- Our Wildlife Xposure incursion (Pictures below)
Literacy
In Literacy, students have just completed their very own information texts. They have created books and will be sharing them with the wonderful Preps on the last day of term.
Students chose their favourite sea creature for the unit and decided on the most important information. They practised synthesizing by collecting information from different sources, as well as summarising, where they put the learnt information into their own words.
We are so proud of what they have produced and we know that our 1/2s are too!
Maths
In Maths, we have just wrapped up our Multiplication & Division unit, once again we are so proud of the learning & growth made by each and every student.
You might've heard your children talking about 'Multiply Guy' & 'Dave the Divider'. These are our Multiplication & Division characters used to teach all about the concept and skills needed to solve maths problems with these symbols.
Over the holidays, we will have some sums posted to Seesaw for your children to practise!
Jump Rope for Heart & R U OK? Day
Last Thursday, we wore yellow to highlight the importance of checking in with those around us, not just on R U OK? Day, but always. Students participated in a range of different activities, exploring how to be a good friend, who is in our support network and what we can do/ say to fill our buckets and the buckets of others.
Last Thursday, was also Jump Rope for Heart day. In Session 4, the P-2 cohort headed to the amphitheatre and watched each other skip, both individually and in groups! It was a fun session to dance along, get active and raise funds for Heart research.
We wish you all a wonderful holidays, we look forward to seeing you in a few weeks for another fun filled term!
