Prep

Congratulations to our Preppies on another successful term of school! There have been many wonderful things learned, and we look forward to what Term 4 has in stall for us!
Literacy
In Literacy, we have continued our author study on Alison Lester and explored more of her books. Students have been discussing which one is their favourite by sharing what they do and don't enjoy about each book. Students also had the opportunity to make predictions and text connections while exploring these books.
Students have worked hard on their high-frequency words through revisiting older words and learning new words along the way. Students have been refining their ability to notice punctuation while reading and using voices to develop their reading fluency.
The students' writing has been wonderful to see! Together, we have explored personal memory stories, narratives and the use of time connections to show when time has passed in our story.
Students enjoyed looking at the beautifully detailed illustrations that Alison Lester includes. They have been recording sentences about the pictures using their five senses: see, hear, taste, smell and touch.
Maths
In Maths, we have been learning about money and shapes. Students worked on identifying different shapes and explaining what features they have, such as sides and corners. We found different ways to sort our shapes based on their features. We also got a bit creative and made these cute animals below using shapes.
If you are wondering why your child is asking about money lately, that is because we have been exploring money in Maths! Students became shopkeepers who made and sold their own products in the classroom. Throughout these lessons, we explore Australian coins and notes. We all had a lot of fun doing this!
Humanities
During our History unit, we have been explaining things from the past compared to the present. Students explored different items that we might find in our houses and how things have changed over time. This might be something you might like to continue to explore at home, and talk about what it was like when you were a child.
R U OK? Day
We were very grateful to have Grade 6 students come in and run a lesson teaching students how to be a good friend. It was wonderful to see our students recognising the many ways in which they are a good friend to their classmates.
