Captains Newsletter report:  Tuesday 12th March

SWELL  Day

On Monday 12th February we celebrated SWELL Day (meaning Student Well being Day). We were able to do some amazing activities including, Acrobalance,  Plate Spinning, Yoga,  Mindfulness and Hip Hop Dancing. These activities were so much fun and calming. Even though it was hot, everyone had a great time.

FIRE Carriers

At the Ash Wednesday Mass on Wednesday 14th March, members of our Year 5 class were officially named as the St Kevin’s FIRE Carriers for 2024.  These people are: Tiago, Fares, Mya, Jonathan, Arianna and Keizen. FIRE Carriers stands for Friends Igniting Reconciliation through Education. With the help of Mrs Gerosolimo, these students will be helping us to be respectful and to learn more about the indigenous members of our country.

Prep & Year 5/6 Buddies

One of the highlights of our week is when we meet up with our Prep Buddies each Friday afternoon. We like seeing our Prep Buddies outside in the yard and helping them when they need it. When we meet on a Friday afternoon we have been doing craft activities based on the different letters and sounds the Preps are learning with Miss Montalto.

Interschool Sport

Last Thursday the 5/6GS had a  Round Robin day of playing sport against 7 other schools in our district. Some students played basketball, some played tennis and the last group played rounders. The tennis team had a lot of fun making up a team with St Charles Borromeo and they won a few games.  The basketball team led by Mr V did well, winning a few games and losing a few games. Our rounders team spent a lot of time in the warm sun, but managed to win all their games and tie one game. On Wednesday 27th of March we will play these schools again and hopefully we will have some more wins.

We look forward to the last three weeks of this term and the Easter Holidays.
