Italy Study Tour 2024
A feast of Italian culture in the school holidays
On Tuesday 2 April, a group of 11 excited students and three teachers set off from Melbourne Airport headed for Rome. There, we met up with the Year 10 students who had spent the past four weeks on exchange at a school in Rome. Once the whole group was reunited, we began our cultural study tour. Highlights included tours of the Vatican and the Colosseum and a day trip to Pompeii. After Rome, we headed to Florence for four nights stopping at Siena and San Gimignano along the way. In Florence, we enjoyed views of Il Duomo from our hotel window! Visiting the Uffizi Gallery and learning how to make pizza from a chef were fun activities in this city! We also spent a day in Pisa, and everyone got their photo holding up the Tower! After Florence, we were off to Venice, with a stop at the Ferrari Museum along the way. Our whirlwind tour of Venice included St Mark’s Basilica, the islands of Murano and Burano and dinner in Lido. Our final day was spent exploring Milan before flying back to Melbourne. It was a busy and exhausting trip but we fit in so much in our two weeks! We have all returned with a new appreciation of Italian culture and history and we are excited to share our experiences with our classmates!
Thank you to Signora Cappelli for all of the work she put into the organisation and management of this tour.
