Travelling to and from school

Being a Northcote Student - Travelling to and from school

Recently we have had a few phone calls to the school regarding behaviours on the tram reported to us by members of the public. They spoke about students pushing and shoving whilst getting onto the tram, not moving/being considerate to let members of the public off at their stop and general yelling and carry on that made their trip unpleasant.

It's true that when we read the news and watch TV or social media, at any one time we see the best and worst of people. Fortunately, at Northcote High School it is so often the best. This newsletter always carries news on the community and philanthropic work we do - and there is more in this edition.

When we travel to and from school, its important to remember that we need to be the same good citizens and act in line with our school value of Humanity. We ask students to be mindful of other people on public transport, helpful to those in need and polite and respectful to people we don't know.

These expectations and behaviours also relate to when we are leaving school grounds by listening to school staff and crossing staff on duty, who are there to help protect students and keep everyone safe.
