French

Term 1 got off to a great start in the French department. Our Prep students have been learning how to take part in simple conversations. Check out Harry’s fantastic example of how to introduce himself.

Year 1 started the year by creating bird puppets to perform with the poem ‘Les deux petits oiseaux’ (Two Little Birds). More recently, we have been learning about how Easter is celebrated in France. On 1st April, children try to stick ‘Poisson d’Avril’ (April Fish) on the back of their parents without them noticing as an April fool! Here are some students finishing their designs to use next week!

Students in Year 2 have been learning how to introduce the people in their families. We used this information to create Pokémon cards for our family members. These look awesome, Arlen and Maddie!

Year 3 designed their very own backpacks as we have been learning the words in French for stationery supplies. Check out their creative designs!

In Year 4, students have been using green screens to film weather reports. We’ve seen some great examples of pronunciation, intonation and digital effects such as Jack and Alessandra’s projects.

Students in Year 5 have been creating video clips to give a tour of our school in French and English. Be sure to check out our school tour on Bastille Day to see who made the final cut!

Year 6 began Term 1 by writing paragraphs to describe themselves. We finished the term with a scavenger hunt to practise using numbers hidden around the classroom. Students answered 15 questions such as, ‘What is the population of France?’ to extend their knowledge of numbers into the hundreds, thousands and millions.
