Congratulations to all Level 3 students and families for completing week 1 of NAPLAN. We are so proud of the students' work ethic and resilience. Two more sessions to go next week: Conventions on Tuesday (between 9- 11am) and Maths on Wednesday (between 9- 11am).

Congratulations to Maeve and Jack on being the Level 3 representatives on the Junior School Council.

Social Emotional Learning

We have been looking at how to be healthy for ourselves, how to have a healthy social life and how we can keep the community healthy. Most of our discussions this week have been about friendships and our feelings when being with our friends. We would like all students to feel safe, respected and comfortable at school and we have been learning some strategies to deal with uncomfortable situations and when our friends don't want to spend time with us. At times, this can be difficult as we have a wonderful mix of personalities in our Level 3 family but we all agreed to try our best as we don't have to be friends with everyone but we need to be friendly with everyone.

Literacy - Spelling

We have started our Spelling Mastery journey and completing three lessons a week. We have also been practising the split digraphs a-e as in cake, o-e as in rope and i-e as in bike. Some of us call it the 'magic e' or the 'bossy e'. The 'e' makes the vowel before the consonant say it's name - either the 'e' is being bossy or it's shooting back it's power.

Maths

We have been practising our Problem Solving Strategies and focusing on what the question is asking us to do. We use the acronym RUCSAC to help us.

Rounding numbers - do we round up or down?

We have learnt a little trick with holding onto a balloon. Ask your child to explain it to you using the number 54 and 56 starting points.

Weeks 8 and 9

Our Level 3 Team will be finishing NAPLAN and then learning about how to give a presentation to the class. We will be presenting our All About Me PowerPoints to the class before the holidays.

Term 2

We have School photos, a 'Fun Day' Excursion as there is no camp for Level 3 and lots more learning!

Have a lovely relaxing holiday and thank you for all your support this term.
