Student Leadership Forum with John Pesutto MP (Member for Hawthorn)

Congratulations to Year 6 leaders Meagan Toon, Hayley Lau and Isla Davis for representing our school at a recent leadership forum which was hosted by John Pesutto MP. Student leaders from a large number of local schools were in attendance and were able to raise issues of concern with our local MP while reflecting on the importance of leadership in serving and improving communities.

Ramadan Mubarak

The people of the Islam religion celebrate this particular month every year, and it  recently started on the 11th of March and will end in a month's time on the 9th of April.

Ramadan is a month of fasting, worship, service, communal gathering, and spiritual development in which you become closer to God. Throughout the month the people of the Muslim religion get up before sunrise in which they get their chance to eat and drink and again after the sun goes down. More than 24.1% of the world's population is Muslim. Current estimates conclude that the number of Muslims in the world is around 1.8 billion. Muslims are the majority in 49 countries, they speak hundreds of languages and come from diverse ethnic backgrounds.

Ari, Araiz and Maryum (Araiz's mum) shared about Ramzan / Ramandan with the Year 6 cohort, facilitated by Elaine (Josh's mum). We learnt about the five pillars of Islam and Ramzan / Ramadan. Thank you for sharing with us.

Mother's Day Lunch

Our highly anticipated ASPS Mother’s Lunch will be held on Wednesday 8th May.

A slightly different experience this year (a change is as good as a holiday right?)

Venue is Panama Dining on Smith Street Fitzroy. A 3 Course meal with French bubbles on arrival. But don’t stress, we are organizing a bus to transport guests to pick up from ASPS. For those that can get out of school pick up, we will continue on at Panama (once lunch is complete) at their cocktail bar.

We are looking forward to yet another amazing and memorable day with our amazing ASPS mums and carers.

Make sure you get your tickets quickly because trust us when we say this, you do not want to miss out this year! Seats and tickets are limited:

Volunteering at ASPS

After reviewing our current processes, we have developed a Parent/Volunteer Helper Handbook.

Going forward, all volunteers at ASPS (sporting events, classroom reading, excursions, SAKG, canteen etc.) will be required to read this handbook and return the two signed forms, along with their WWC, to the office.

Once this has occurred, then you can volunteer at ASPS.

Please find the Parent/Volunteer Helper Handbook below:
