Welcome Back

It has been wonderful to see the children coming back through the gates this week as we return to school after the break. It is hard to believe it is now the last term of the year. The term is a busy one (which one isn't?) with a variety of events happening - along with a great  learning program still being delivered.

Please continue to check the Dates to Remember tab so that you are aware of what is on and when.  We love having families join us where possible.

Broad Brimmed Hats

We are asking for your support in ensuring your child has a broad-brimmed school hat ready for use when they are playing and learning outside.

Children who are not wearing a broad brimmed hat will be restricted to certain areas depending on their age.

The teachers have been communicating with the children and we are doing all we can to remind them of the importance of being sun smart. Your help in doing the same would be very much appreciated.

At times the children think that just because the sun is behind a cloud, they are safe from the sun. Others think that they have applied sunscreen so they do not need a hat. We are helping them understand that a hat is still needed.

It is also important that the hat is a broad brimmed hat and not a baseball cap or beanie. Our school broad brimmed hats are available from our uniform supplier; Lowes at Lansell Square.

Communication

This week we are sharing information from our Communication between school and our families policy that relates to communication via email.

Email Etiquette

  • Emails will be responded to within two school working days. The response may be via return email, telephone or in person.
  • Staff on pre-determined leave will set up an auto-reply on their email indicating they are on leave and who to contact if the matter is urgent.
  • Parent/carers should ensure that the school has the correct email address and that these are checked regularly.
  • Emails should be addressed to one person only so it is clear who is responsible for responding to the email.
  • People cc’d into emails are included for information purposes only and will not be responsible for responding to the email.
  • Email communication should be kept succinct and be safe, kind and respectful.
  • All email communication between staff, parents and carers that relates to Golden Square Primary School must only be made through the staff’s education.vic.gov.au email address.
  • Staff are not expected to respond to emails outside of their normal work hours.
  • Emergency emails should be sent to the school email address and to the principal.

Common Reasons / Uses for Email Communication

  • To request information.
  • To share information .
  • To request a face-to-face meeting time.

Keep taking care.
