Year 10 Students Shine in HNEH SBAT Applications
Several of our Year 10 students recently applied for the highly competitive Hunter New England Health School-Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship (SBAT) positions. With over 200 applicants, the process was extremely tough, and we are so proud that all of our students made it through to interview stage and represented Kurri Kurri High exceptionally well.
A special congratulations to Molly Corbett and Isabella Kemp, who were both successful and will be commencing their SBATs in Term 4.
This is an outstanding achievement and a reflection of their hard work, determination, and professionalism throughout the process. Congratulations, ladies – we are very proud of you!
First Aid and Resuscitation Training
A group of our students recently participated in a First Aid and Resuscitation course delivered by Royal Life Saving and proudly supported through Educational Pathways Program (EPP) funding.
Through this training, students successfully gained their First Aid qualification, equipping them with valuable, practical skills that can be used throughout their lives.
This opportunity not only strengthens their confidence in responding to emergencies but also enhances their employability by adding an important credential to their skill set. Well done to all students who completed the course!
Hands-On Learning with WesTrac
Several of our students have been given an incredible opportunity to participate in the Regional Employment and Industry Partnership (REIP) program with WesTrac.
After submitting an expression of interest earlier this year, students were invited to attend interviews. Those who were successful have now secured a place in the program, where they will gain hands-on industry experience and develop valuable workplace skills in a real-world environment.
This program is an excellent pathway for students interested in trades and industry careers, offering them the chance to build confidence, practical skills, and connections for their future.
Partnering with Phoenix Park Farm Regenerative Agriculture Program
This term, Year 10 student Lucy Butler participated in an exciting Regional Industry Education Partnership (RIEP) program in collaboration with Phoenix Park Farm.
The four-day program, delivered over four weeks, aims to inspire and inform students about regenerative agriculture practices in the Hunter region. Through visits to four local producers, students engaged in hands-on activities exploring both the “how” and the “why” of regenerative farming.
Experiences included learning about cutting-edge agricultural processes, livestock observation, advanced monitoring technologies, soil testing, and agri-business operations. This broad exposure allowed students to connect agriculture with business, technology, and biology, sparking interest in a growing and evolving field.
Programs like this highlight the potential for students to pursue long-term careers across the agricultural industry, combining innovation with sustainability.

The first day saw students travel to the Muswellbrook Innovation Centre, where they explored cutting-edge technologies, engaged in hands-on workshops, and gained insight into the innovative industries shaping our region.
The second part of the program took students further afield to Google and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Here, they experienced first-hand the exciting world of global technology and higher education, with opportunities to connect what they are learning at school to future pathways in digital careers, research, and innovation.
This program gave students a valuable glimpse into emerging industries and the skills needed for the jobs of tomorrow.
