JAECG, DREAM TOGETHER & CLONTARF NEWS

Our student leaders took part in the termly Junior AECG Leadership Day held St Philip’s Christian College, a fun and engaging event designed to build teamwork and cultural awareness. Activities included the challenge of building a paper chair, designing an Indigenous planter, and working together in group tasks. A highlight of the day was cooking and sharing of Johnny Cakes. The experience encouraged collaboration, leadership, and respect for culture, while giving students the chance to learn in an enjoyable, hands-on way.
STATE FINALISTS!

We are very excited to share that our Illuminate Team won Best Marketing Package and Overall Runners Up for the Illuminate Challenge. 18 High Schools attended the challenge from across Newcastle & Hunter Region, so competition was fierce. Our students, Memphis, Milla & Floss had to identify a local need, create a business solution, create budgets, create an effective marketing campaign AND then present their solution to judges and schools and then create an information desk to present to the Community of families, staff and schools…. No biggie 🤭
It definitely put them outside of their comfort zone, but by Day three, they were confident and outstanding! This takes us to the State Illuminate Final to pitch our Local Solution Statewide. Next week, we will set up our exhibition and share our presentation with staff - details will come. We intend on pitching our concept to Cessnock City Council as an extension whilst leading into the Finals.
Thanks to Peta McHugh as our Day 1 support, helping come up with our concept, the incredible Caitlin Macfarlane whose passion and kindness led & supported our kids over the 3 Day intensive & exhaustive challenge.
