ALCHERA HOUSE VISIT

YEAR 12 ALCHERA HOUSE VISIT
On Thursday Afternoon an absolutely terrific group of yr 12 students walked up to Alchera House to sit and converse with the residence. This opportunity was organised by Rhiannon R in year 12 as a part of her independent civic learning project for VM Literacy. It was a fantastic afternoon. Thank you to Alchera for hosting us and thank you to the year 12 students who were just lovely conversationalists.
Rhiannon R
As a year 12 VM literacy student Rhiannon made a project that brought the community together for an afternoon tea.
With this Rhiannon took selected year 12 students to Alchera house at the Korumburra Hospital to enjoy an afternoon of food and communication with the residents. Rhiannon hoped that this project would help develop communication skills, patience, critical thinking, and boost confidence for the students. She also hoped that it would ease the feeling of loneliness, create positive thoughts lowering the feeling of depression and allow brain stimulation to lower the risk of dementia for the residents.
Overall it was a good day out that created future connections for not just the students but the school.
