French Enrichment Groups
Our Year 3 French Enrichment students are continuing their creative writing journey with Le Roi de la mer. Using the illustrations as inspiration, they are crafting their very own stories with the goal of producing a unique book — we can’t wait to see the final result!
Meanwhile, our Year 4 students are hard at work as budding journalists. They are finalising their short news reports (brèves), which will soon be published together in the form of a class gazette. Exciting projects!
Madame Clapette
Our Year 3 and year 4 students have been working on expanding their vocabulary, building well-structured sentences, and practising the use of the passé composé by creating short picture-based stories. This scaffolded project included a review and explanation of new vocabulary, sorting words by their “nature” (verbs, nouns, and adjectives), and orally telling the story before writing it down while applying correct grammar and writing conventions. Bravo to all students for their effort and dedication!
Madame Bokobza
As part of their inquiry subject Places and Geography, the grade 2 cohort enjoyed a guided city tour around Federation Square and the Yarra River last Wednesday. During the guided tour, students explored some of Melbourne’s most iconic places including the Yarra River, Birrarung Marr, Flinders Street Station, Sandridge Bridge and the Eureka Tower.
Throughout the excursion, students learned about how Melbourne’s geography, buildings and communities have changed over time — from the land’s significance to First Nations peoples, through European settlement, immigration, and the development of modern-day Melbourne.
Thank you to the team who organised the event, our parent helpers and our city guides. Special thanks to Catherine who animated the tour in French for our binome students.
