Long Lunch champions mental health in Echuca Moama
👓 1 minute read
First National Charles L King & Co (Echuca Moama, Vic) will once again host its Long Lunch for Mental Health on Friday 10 October, building on the success of last year’s inaugural event.
This year’s headline guest is Shanna Whan AM, founder and CEO of Sober in the Country, 2022 Australian of the Year (Local Hero) and Order of Australia recipient for her contributions to rural health. Shanna will share her personal journey from alcohol addiction to leading a national grassroots movement that encourages Australians to understand it’s simply #OK2SAYNO to alcohol and to put mates’ welfare first.
The lunch at Radcliffe’s Restaurant will also feature a panel discussion with local mental health experts and advocates, including headspace Echuca’s Jayden Howe. Funds raised will support vital services at Echuca Regional Health’s The Local, headspace and Beyond Blue.
The event has been made possible by the support of the National Centre for Farm Health’s Look Over the Farm Gate Grant, Moama Bowling Club, Fifteen 50, Coolabah Turf and the First National Real Estate Foundation.
Tickets are available through Sticky Tickets, with RSVPs due a week before the event
Celebrating a century at Waikerie Bowling Club

At the recent Centenary Dinner of the Waikerie Bowling Club, Jennifer Nitschke proudly represented her family in receiving a special bowling accolade. The recognition honoured her grandfather Bill Senior’s uncle, Art Wohling, who together with the Marschall family founded Wohling and Marschall in 1920. More than a century later, the family’s business, FN Marschall continues at the very same site – a remarkable milestone of dedication and continuity.
RizeUp preparations on track

Work is well underway to deliver a comprehensive RizeUp strategy across our network. The plan is designed to make participation straightforward, giving every office simple ways to support the initiative at a local level.
A toolkit of ready-to-use assets, a central registration hub, and seed-funding for early activities are all being finalised. These resources will make it easy for members to host fundraising events, promote their involvement, and share stories that demonstrate the difference we are making together.
The strategy is progressing in line with the agreed timeline, with key milestones locked in and member engagement set to ramp up in the coming weeks. We are building the foundation for a coordinated national effort that will showcase the strength of our network while giving every office practical tools to contribute.
