Greater Western Athletics

A number of students from Sacred Heart have qualified for the Greater Western Regional Athletics. This will take place on Friday October 10th October at Llanberris Reserve, York Street, Ballarat. Students will travel by bus to this event. The bus will leave from St Mary’s Church carpark at 7:30am and return to the St Mary’s carpark at 4:00pm. The cost of the bus is $10 per student. Please pay this at the office before the event. Students will need to wear their sports uniform, bring along their hat, drink bottle, snacks, fruit and lunch. A canteen is available on the day and Greater Western Athletics Regional merchandise is available to purchase.

We do need some parents to assist on the day, so please indicate on PAM if you can help out.

Foundation Swimming

This week is the last swimming lesson for our Foundation students. A big thank you to the teachers and parents who assisted with the swimming program. Swimming is a great skill for our students to learn.

 

Sacred Heart Netball

Congratulations to Sacred Heart netball team “Stingrays”, who won the Grand final defeating Birregurra Saints in the Friday night netball competition. A big thank you to Stingray coaches Rylee R and Mia C for training the girls for the season and building great friendships.

Well done to all the Sacred Heart netball teams, and a big thank you to the coaches and team managers for all their hard work. Our netball players are very lucky to receive such great support during the netball season.

 

Junior Lawn Bowls Competition

The Colac Lake Bowling Club is currently after junior lawn bowlers to potentially make a Colac Junior Lawn Bowls Team. Free coaching is available for all students from 5.00pm – 6.00pm. Bowls is a fun and social game that every one of all ages can enjoy. The Colac Lake Bowling Club is at 35 Moore Street, Colac. Please contact Ms Lynch if you require more information.

 

State Netball Championships

Our Year 6 Girls Netball team consisting of – Phoebe R, Asha Mc, Poppy S, Darci G, Lily K, Mae D, Regan S, Lily S, Lena M and Millie H, will play in the State Netball Championships tomorrow at Waverley Netball Centre.  We wish them all the best. Go girls!!

Winter Sport 

This Thursday 18th September our Year 5 and 6 students will compete against St Mary’s Primary School in the Winter Sport Competition between recess and lunch. This will take place at Sacred Heart. Students will need to wear their sports uniform and bring along the appropriate gear for their selected sport e.g. football boots. The sports will include football, netball, spike ball, table tennis, hot shots tennis, down ball and soccer. Drink bottles and hats will be needed. Students can still have a lunch order on this day.

 

Footy Colours Day

This Thursday 18th September, all students have the chance to wear their favourite football code colours e.g. AFL, soccer, NRL etc. Students are asked to bring a gold coin donation that will go towards our selected fundraising group ‘OneHope Community Care’. This is a community meal program in Geelong that offers those in need a warm cooked meal on a Thursday and a community foodbank (food hamper) on a Tuesday. They offer meals to all those who are struggling financially and aim to provide cooked meals, fresh produce, pantry items, and community connection.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Tennis is my favourite sport because it is an exciting game to play.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I won my first grandfinal in soccer.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My biggest strength in sport is my strong kicks in soccer.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and competitive.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Cristiano Ronaldo.

8. Why are they your favourite? Ronaldo is my favourite soccer player because he is super fast and a great forward.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Geelong Cats.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am very competitive.

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are netball, basketball and dance.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sports to play are netball and basketball.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Netball and basketball are my favourite sports because they are both fun to play and they are also great games to watch.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I shot my first goal in basketball.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My biggest strength in basketball is my strength at pulling the basketball out of the oppositions hands. I have strong hands to catch the ball in netball too.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is a fun thing to do with your friends.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is netballer Zara Walters.

8. Why are they your favourite? Zara is my favourite player because she is a really fast netballer and a very strong player.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Melbourne Vixens netball team.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am strong, fast and a very supportive team member.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is basketball.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Basketball is my favourite sport because it is fun and I get to play with my friends, and I get to meet new people.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I shot my first 3 pointer.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strength in sport is my fitness, I like to keep fit.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and I get to play with my friends.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is basketballer Lebron James.

8. Why are they your favourite? Lebron James is my favourite player because he is a champoin basketball player and a power forward.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Los Angeles Lakers.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a great team mate, and that I am a very fair person.
