What's Your Faith Story? Mrs Liebelt
Relationships are interesting aren’t they!
There’s the ‘Getting to know you stage’...
the ‘Can I really trust you?’ stage...
and then the ways the relationship develops over time...
How about our relationship with God? He is always there... desiring to connect with us, wanting us to walk life’s journey with him, loved and secure...
But what does that actually look like in someone’s life?
Let’s hear from one of our staff members, Mrs Liebelt, as she shares some of her
Faith Story:
How did you first hear about God?
I was brought up in a Christian family and my parents regularly took me to church,
read the Bible to me, prayed with me and taught me about Jesus’ love for me.
Can you describe a time when it was hard to trust God?
When I was very young, I lived in New Zealand and one night there was a big earthquake. I remember waking up very scared and yelling,
“There’s someone shaking my bed!”
For a long time after, I had nightmares every night and was scared to go to sleep.
How did that story end?
My parents would pray with me before I went to sleep at night and reminded me that God is with me and is looking after me. Eventually the bad dreams stopped.
Is there a particular bible verse that is important to you?
A Bible verse that helps me when I am afraid is from Matthew 28:20 where Jesus says,
“I am with you always”. It reminds me that no matter what I’m going through,
God is with me and will help me through it. There have been lots of other times
in my life when I have felt afraid and this Bible verse comforts me.
What is your current relationship with God like?
I see God as my best friend. I trust Him and know that He loves me unconditionally
and is in control of my life, no matter what happens.
Describe Jesus using 3 different words.
Loving, Kind, Forgiving,
Mrs Liebelt
