Hello and welcome to this fortnight's edition of our school newsletter.

As always, The Gap State High School is a very busy place. On Monday night, it was wonderful to see so many families with their young people attending the Five Years of Learning from ATAR session. We were very lucky to have Jen Smeed with us, unpacking the ATAR system and everything that has been learned during that time.

Please stay tuned for more Parents as Partners sessions around learning about the ATAR. As educators, parents, and students, every time I attend one of those sessions, I learn something new. It’s really important to keep coming back and hearing more about the QTAC system, the QCAA, and the ATAR, because when you have that knowledge, you’re better informed to support your young person in making great decisions about subject choices and career pathways of the future. It’s never too early to start thinking and planning around those things.

We are also getting very close to the end of this term and it’s been a busy one with lots of camps. Our Applied Positive Psychology team is already planning for the Year 10 Camp, which is one of the most popular and well-known camps at The Gap State High School. I’m looking forward to hearing about the amazing adventures at Emu Gully for those Year 10 students and future leaders we aim to develop and nurture through that camp.

Our Year 12's and 11s are deep into their study regime and preparing for their exams during this block period. It’s a valuable opportunity for them to build their capability and stamina, not only applying the learning they’ve done throughout the term, but also developing confidence in exam conditions. I wish them all the best as they sit their exams and trust that when they reach the holidays, they’ll take a well-deserved rest.

Thanks everyone, until next time.
