Hello Gympie, East parents, carers and community,
Students are heads down and focussed on working through their assessments and ensuring that they are producing their best work. If parents can support the school at home by ensuring students are well rested, have a good breakfast and trying to keep mornings calm before arriving at school. We never want to apply excess pressure or anxiety but we also know that maintaining a calm environment can go a long way to providing a safe learning environment for students to thrive.
Grandparent's/Special Person's Day is just around the corner on Wednesday 17th September from 12pm - 3pm. This year, we are scaling back and following the theme of 'Togetherness' but putting the onus on Grandparents/Special People spending time with their grandchildren/students. We will begin together with a parade in front of the library at 12pm then heading into classrooms to see what students have been working on. Then we have various stalls set up around the school with a passport that students will receive in the classroom. As you work your way around the 12 stalls, you can get your passport stamped by engaging in activities designed to complete with two or more people. At the end of the day, passports that have at least 8 stamps will go into the draw for some terrific prizes. A reminder for families to bring a plate of food to share at Grandparents Day, check with your child's teacher on what to bring - thankyou!
A reminder about the Parent/Teacher Interviews: You have received an email about our Term 3 Parent/Teacher Interviews which are student-led. Four families at a time will be in the classroom and students will lead their parents through a checklist to show what they have been working on. Students will discuss their learning goals, show how they use the Bump-It-Up Wall, go through their book work and describe what they are working on. Each conference block lasts for 20 minutes with a 10-minute changeover period in between. Parents will have an opportunity to discuss their child’s progress with the teacher but the onus is on the student to lead the conference. Parents will also get to give feedback on two things they are really proud of and a goal they would like to see their child strive for (2 Stars and a wish). Please log in when you receive your email and book a timeslot, contact your child's teacher if you have any questions or cannot make the day/time.
P&C Thankyou
I would like to thank the hardworking P&C for all their efforts in fundraising for our school and ensuring our students have the very best. They raised over $4500 at the trivia night and always working behind the scenes to support the school. I would also like to thank the Mums who came up to school on Wednesday and Thursday morning to work at the Father's Day Stall. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!
We had our last P&C meeting for Term 3 on Thursday and only have 6 people in attendance. I know some people can't make meetings and find other ways to support P&C but it would be great to have a few more people coming along and sharing their points of view and ideas. Our next P&C meeting will be on Thursday 16th October starting at 3:30pm in the STEM Room.
Thanks
Mr Matt Elson
