Year 6 Charity Fete

On the 12th of September, the Year 6s held a Charity Fete. My stall, Crazy Cute Corner, was one of the foremost stalls. This is how it all happened. The Grade 6s were put into different groups. Each group was asked to come up with many ideas and present it to the teachers. In our group, each person came up with a few ideas to make our stall a success.
After what seemed like a million years of research, I found a game called ‘Guess Who: Baby Teacher Version’. With the help of the staff and Ms Davis, I collected over 20 baby photos and from what I hear the teachers were so excited to be a part of the game. After getting the game set up, and letting everyone play the game, we collected loads of money, with just one of our games. At the end of the day, I felt very happy that this game was extremely successful. When some tricky challenges came our way, we faced them together, asking each other ‘oh, what should we do with the stickers, they’re too big to put on the bookmarks. Maybe we should sell it for $1 each?’ Asking others around us helped a lot, especially on the day. If we got to do the Charity Fete again, I wouldn’t change anything! I was really happy with how our stall was organised and the amount of fun we had during the day. In my opinion, the highlight from this charity fete experience was the teamwork and communication and how well we organised things. We made sure everyone had a part to play and did their best with it. Honestly, our group had the best teamwork and communication skills.

Our group is Sweet Sensation, and this is our thoughts on how Charity Fete went.
Our favourite part of the day was at the end of the day when we looked at what we had left and saw that we had nothing left! Throughout the day we sold out nearly everything after each grade had gone. It was really exciting to see how popular our brownies, cupcakes.oreo wheels and lolly jar was! We were really surprised to see that whenever a new grade came in all of our products went within minutes!! The things that we did well was we worked together as a team ( teamwork), we also sold all our products which we were really proud of. We also worked well with handling and dealing with money. We think that we were not super loud or overwhelmingly but instead very kind and welcoming to all of the parents and students that came by. If we started again, the things we could do differently would be to not get ahead of ourselves and just slow down and think about what we want to do instead of hearing the word baking and instantly deciding that we want to do that because we didn’t think about how much food we would need and how much money and time it would cost us to do this. I think for next time we should also make it more inclusive of all genders because the majority of our customers were girls while all the boys walked past without even looking at our store. We all worked very well together but I think our biggest strength which we all shared was the ability to talk and help all types of people and helping little kids with how much money they need to give us.Our biggest threat was probably another stall called games galore. They were our biggest threat because they were a very big and popular group across from our stall. Some advice that we can give for the next year 6s would be to work hard and do something interesting instead of doing the same things the other grade sixes did in the past. Another thing is to have fun and do the best they can and maybe advertise a bit more explaining how much everything ranges up to in price and telling students how much money to bring so that they bring enough and don't run out of money as soon as they buy their first item. We think we would rate the day an 8.5 out of 10.The reason we have rated charity fete this was because we had an amazing time but dealing with kids is very exhausting, so we now understand how parents and teachers feel. We also think that the charity fete was an amazing opportunity to learn how to work with everyone well and to always be prepared.
