Father’s Day

Our annual Father’s Day Stall was a huge success. Altona College would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Parents and Friends of Altona College for their running the event, allowing all Primary and Secondary students an opportunity to purchase items for their dad, grandfather, or special person in their lives. Thanks to Sarah P for all the behind the scenes work, Liz L for a massive effort in coordinating and working at all events, Bec D and Tim L for their support in stock allocation and stall set up and Erin C, Lisa J, Sarah G, Kirsty C, Ivonne M-J, Lauren S, Rachel E, Kirsty B, and Emma S for coming in on the day and serving all our students with a big smile and supportive attitude.

Lastly, a huge shoutout to Adrian at Little Roseberry Café who supported the stall by providing some delicious coffee beans and free coffee cards as well as local business Chocamama for their ongoing support of our events. The dads and special males in our lives were celebrated through an afternoon BBQ which included some free sausages, gifts and a range of games and activities. We hope all the wonderful fathers and father figures in our community felt the love.

Love your Locals Zoo Excursion

Primary 5/6 Garden Group were invited to attend the Love your Locals Day at Werribee Zoo. Selected students were able to share their knowledge on the Altona Skipper Butterfly – a native and endangered butterfly and how at Altona College we are working towards supporting its growth and continued existence though our butterfly habitat garden. Students were able to participate in a range of activities and received a certificate for their conservation efforts! A big thanks to Ms Moore for supporting students though the college garden program and her social skills program support.

R U OK Day was acknowledged at the College on Thursday September 11th. The Primary Students were lucky enough to attend a hip-hop dance session with L2R Dance – where they learnt a little bit about mental health and checked in on each other whilst working on their awesome dance moves!

Prep Scienceworks Excursion

Following our excursion to Scienceworks, the Prep students engaged in the full writing process to draft, edit, and publish their recounts. Their work demonstrates wonderful growth in their sentence structure, spelling, grammar, and handwriting. The Prep teachers are very proud of the effort and achievement each student has shown.
