Charlton College Recognised Among Victoria’s Top Government Schools

On Sunday, Charlton College was proudly featured in the Herald Sun’s list of the Top 100 Government Schools in Victoria, achieving the number 8 ranking across the state. We are especially proud to be the highest-ranked regional school, in a top 10 otherwise dominated by five select-entry schools from Melbourne. This recognition is a testament to the outstanding work of our dedicated staff, supportive community, and, most importantly, our hardworking students. Following the announcement, several follow-up articles have highlighted both the college and our school captains. These features are available to read on the Charlton College Facebook page.

VCE Leaders Awards – Fletcher Holmes-Brown

On Friday, Fletcher Holmes-Brown attended the VCE Leaders Awards ceremony as one of just eight finalists selected from across the state. All finalists were outstanding young leaders, making Fletcher’s inclusion a remarkable achievement.

What makes this even more special is that Fletcher was the only finalist from a regional school, proudly representing Charlton College and our wider community on the state stage.

Well done Fletcher.

Parent Opinion Survey

The 2025 Parent, Caregiver and Guardian Opinion Survey is now open until Friday 19 September 2025. This survey is an important opportunity for families to share their thoughts and experiences with the school. It focuses on key areas such as school climate, how the school involves the community in learning, teaching practices that support student engagement and outcomes, and views on school attendance. Feedback from the survey helps the school understand what is working well and where improvements can be made. Logon details have been sent to families via Compass.

Attendance

Regular school attendance is vital for student success. Everyday counts, and missing school means missing out on important learning opportunities. Consistent attendance helps students stay engaged, achieve better academic outcomes and build strong social connections. However, if your child is sick, it is important that they stay home to rest and recover, and to prevent the spread of illness to other students and staff. If your child needs to be absent, I kindly ask that you inform the school.

Exciting News: Jye Roberts Shortlisted in ABC Heywire Competition!

Out of over 500 entries, Jye Roberts has been shortlisted as one of the top two finalists for our region in the ABC Heywire Competition. Supported by Julie, Jye has just completed the interview process and is now eagerly awaiting the results, which will be announced within the next two weeks.

We all know the incredible story Jye has to share — a story of resilience, determination, and a "tough as a two-dollar steak" attitude that has helped him keep kicking goals against all odds (Literally). Heywire gives young people from regional, rural, and remote areas a powerful platform to join the national conversation, where their voices are often unheard and underrepresented. It also empowers them to lead projects that positively impact their peers, schools, communities, and themselves.

We wish Jye and Julie the very best of luck in this amazing opportunity to showcase their journey to the nation!
