2024 VIRTUAL CONFERENCE

I am very excited to have attended a virtual conference this week run by Yellow Ladybugs. Yellow Ladybugs is a non-government organisation, dedicated to the happiness, success and celebration of autistic girls, women and gender diverse individuals.

The conference was fantastic with a plethora of amazing speakers delving in to the world of neuro-affirming culture and talking about the different ways that we can support our neurodiverse children. Although Yellow Ladybug’s focus is on girls and gender diverse communities much of what was presented this week at the conference was applicable to all neurodiverse students.

Find out more about Yellow Ladybugs and check out some of their newly released resources on their website - https://www.yellowladybugs.com.au/

The Resilient Kids Conference (being held in Blackburn!!) is a one-day event for parents and professionals who live and work with kids and teens. It’s a place where Australia’s leading parenting educators join forces to support you with practical tools and strategies, so you can better show up for this generation of kids.

Since 2016, our live events have attracted up to 800 attendees at a single event, so the vibe is marvellous. It is beyond beautiful to see parents, educators, and many other professionals stream through the doors in anticipation of a soul fulfilling experience. By the end of the day their faces are beaming, and so is our teams.

If you haven’t been to a Resilient Kids Conference you simply must! It’s much more than a conference. It’s a community of people, redefining resilience together. Melbourne conference delegates will be joined by key speakers Michelle Mitchell, Dr Jodi Richardson and Dr Billy Garvey. In person tickets are available for this event.

Michelle Mitchell began her career as a classroom teacher but soon discovered a special interest in wellbeing. In 2000 she quit teaching and established a harm prevention charity, called Youth Excel. Her days were filled with running small group support programs for girls ‘at risk’ of dropping out of education, and she soon became well known for successful outcomes with tweens and teenagers who did not flourish under more traditional forms of therapy.

Over the next 20 years, Youth Excel continued to grow and expand. The Youth Excel Centre was established – a multi-disciplinary clinic offering psychology, counselling, mentoring for children and teenagers. It was there that her team of twelves offered big-hearted, innovative services to over 150 families each week. Michelle personally had the privilege of working with many hundreds of young people and their families as a mentor.

Today Michelle uses her experience to write and speak in schools, community events and through media. Her best-selling parenting and children’s resources, including the highly popular Everyday Resilience Journal, have sold over 100,000 copies worldwide and have been translated into several languages.

You can sign up to join her community to receive her latest blogs, product releases and event dates straight into your inbox. Plus receive a free 20 page e-book to help support your parenting journey.
