SUBJECT SELECTION
All Year 8 students attended a presentation by Acting Director of Learning and Teaching, Mr Marcus Parker, about the 2025 subject selection process.
Students were given their login details and the information about choosing their subjects. If they have misplaced this or you have not seen it at home, please reach out to me.
This is the first time Year 8 students have a bit of choice in the subjects they will be studying at school.
What will next year look like for Year 9 Students?
All classes will be exclusively made up of Year 9 students and they will be arranged into core groups like they have been at Years 7 and 8. They will study the following core subjects:
- English (4 lessons per week)
- Mathematics (3 lessons per week)
- Religious Education (2 lessons per week)
- Science (3 lessons per week)
- Humanities (3 lessons per week)
- Health & PE (3 lessons per week)
Students will also select four elective subjects – either Italian with one Technology elective and one Art elective or no Italian with two Technology electives and two Art electives.
I strongly encourage students to ask questions and seek help from their current teachers and support staff to get the most out of this process.
The closing date for subject selection is Friday 16 August.
WHAT'S COMING UP FOR YEAR 8 STUDENTS
BLUE WHALE THEATRE COMPANY
On Thursday 15 August Year 8 students are lucky enough to be attending a production from the Blue Whale Theatre Company - Mary: A Story of Courage – the St. Mary MacKillop Story.
CIRCUS ELEMENTS
On Friday 16 August all Year 8 students will also be involved in a circus skills session with Circus Elements. They will be teaching the students the art of plate spinning, juggling, and flower sticks. They are sure to have lots of fun in these sessions.
