Primary Netball Cup

On Wednesday 5 June we had over 140 Year 3-6 students compete at the Netball NSW Primary Cup in Inverell. The students had a great day, many of them learnt new skills and had fun.  Thank you to our parents who helped on the day to run teams, our Secondary students who helped with umpiring and our staff who made it all happen. A special congratulations to our winning team pictured below! They were the overall winners of the day.

These boys will travel to Forbes in the last week of school and compete in the Polding Carnival.

Year 3-6 Athletics Carnival

The Primary School Athletics Track Carnival will be held on the school oval. This will be combined with the Secondary students this Friday, June 21, Week 8, starting at approx. 9:15am. Some field events for Primary will be held on this day. The remaining field events will take place on Friday, June 28. Families are welcome to come and watch but must remain seated and cannot move onto the oval where events are being held.

Year 2 students will participate this year and attend the carnival to compete in their age race only – this is an introduction to what to expect in Year 3. Students wear their sports uniform.

Year 3-6 will compete in age groups – 8\9 years, 10 years, 11 years & 12 years (opens). It is the age they turn this year. Track events to be held on the day include 1500m, 800m, 200m, 100m & house relays. The order of events will be 800m, 100m, 200m, 400m & 1500m. All events start with 8/9year girls. No exact start times can be given as it depends on the number of entries received. The 1500m entries (top 6 in 800m) and House relays (based on 100m heat times) will be formed on the day. No finals are being held. All overall places will be determined by heat times.

Field events include high jump, long jump, discus and shot put. Students are to wear their full school sports uniform but may wear house colour T-shirts on the day (Johns – yellow, Marks – red, Pauls – blue, Leos – Green).  Children should bring their hat, sunscreen and water bottle. If your child suffers from asthma, they need to bring their own Ventolin. The school canteen will be available on the day.

Students must place in the final top 2 (field & long-distance events) and final top 3 (track events) and must meet Diocesan qualifying times to progress to the Diocesan Athletics Carnival next term in Tamworth.
