Leadership

There are only 10 days left for the term, but there are so many events still to come. The Buildings & Grounds committee have pulled out their favourite gloves, rakes and pumped up the psi for their favourite wheel barrows to ensure that Sunday’s working bee is a success. The Buildings & Grounds committee are dedicated to being an inclusive crew who are inviting all with a grand high five to come to school between 9:00 – 12:00 to help with painting, weeding and lots of moving! It is the only day that shows any kind of sun over the next week, so you might as well get on down and appreciate one last time together before we experience 3 months of duffel coats, beanies and shoes that provide protection from puddles. You want a poster, here it is!

Term 3 Staff Changes

As discussed last week, Jess has gone on a very exciting new family adventure. While we are very excited for her and will miss her, we can now officially congratulate Sophia who will be replacing Jess in the Literacy role for the rest of the year. Sophia’s knowledge and understanding of the school’s organisational processes and instructional models will be essential in ensuring that our processes are not only consistent but will continue to be refined.  Sophia's replacement will be announced by the end of the term.

Toilets at school…

In some very disappointing news, we have noticed an increase of vandalism at Newlands by our students. As discussed with all of our classes throughout the week, some students are not demonstrating our school values. There has been broken toilets, steps and graffiti found over the last week and while this is not only unfair to the students whom are making the right choices, it is stopping Sab from doing the things that he needs to do and it is costing the school hundreds of dollars that could be used in more effective ways. We have encouraged students to come forward if they were involved or know anything about the vandalism. We are asking families to relay the message about what showing Care and Responsibility means at Newlands and to speak up if they see something that does not align with our school values. Any student found damaging school property will be charged with a bill, as well as appropriate consequences. If any families would like to see some of the damage, please don’t hesitate to contact the office.
