Local Parliamentary Convention

On Friday, 21st June, our Year 11 Legal Studies class attended our local parliamentary convention with over 100 students from other local schools, to discuss the topic AI Friend or Foe?

Students were spoken to by Andrew Giles, Federal MP for Scullin and Dr James Curran, CEO of Grok Academy.

Students then debated the ethics of artificial intelligence before voting in a plebiscite on the issue. Our students put forward some amazing arguments and displayed great confidence in speaking to the group as a whole.

The vote showed, we as a society are still divided on the issue of this new technology, recognising its many benefits but aware of its possible misuse.
