Foundation Unit

Welcome back to Term 3. It was lovely to see everyone back at school and to hear all about what the students did over the break.

Last week we introduced the students to dirt, grass and sky writing books. Students have been practising sitting their letters on the correct line and starting letters in the correct spot. Students will receive a guide soon that will be kept in their take home readers if you would like to support this at home too. 

It was also fantastic to see that so many students continued to read over the holidays. This week students have been learning to make inferences. Students use picture clues and their own knowledge to understand what is happening in the text. 

In Maths, students have been learning to count on from the largest number using concrete materials and record number sentences.

Finally, next week (Thursday 1st August) we are excited to celebrate 100 days of Prep. Students are encouraged to dress up as 100 year olds. Students will participate in activities to do with 100 throughout the day.
